Food delivery executive injured in western India hit-and-run involving luxury car; driver arrested
In western India’s Maharastra a tragic hit-and-run incident, claiming the life of food delivery executive Rauf Akbar Shaikh. The driver, identified as Ayush Tayal, fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police using CCTV footage.
The incident took place at the Mundhwa area, specifically around Tadi Gutta Chowk in Pune on October 11.
Visuals showed a luxury car was speeding down the road when it collided head-on with a bike coming from the opposite direction. The impact was intense, and the biker was thrown off due to the sheer force of the crash. The car’s driver, without stopping, quickly fled the scene. Nearby, a security guard witnessed the accident and immediately ran to the biker.
According to reports, the police tracked accused down through CCTV footage and arrested him later in the day. He was sent for a medical examination to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The accident also resulted in injuries to three other individuals earlier that night when Tayal’s car collided with another two-wheeler before striking Shaikh. Pune’s Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Patil, stated that a case has been registered against Tayal under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigations are ongoing.
