Flooding at northern India’s top hospital forces shutdown of neurosurgery theaters

A leading government hospital in northern India’s Delhi faced a significant disruption due water leakage.

 

The incident took place in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on June 28.

Visuals showed water leaking from the roof and seeping inside the elevators of the basement. Water level rising upto ankle level.

 

According to reports, flooding in the basement led to an electric shutdown, forcing the closure of neurosurgery operation theaters from morning until 6 PM. As a result, elective surgeries for stable patients were postponed, causing considerable inconvenience and concern. The hospital is working to address the issue and resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
