Flooded river in northern India causes house to collapse sparking panic amongst residents

In a distressing incident in northern India’s Bihar, a house collapsed and submerged into the Ganga River amid heavy floods.

The incident took place in Bhagalpur district and the video went viral on September 24.

Visuals showed the house, located on the riverbank, collapsing gradually into the flooded river while local residents watched in distress. Later, another house behind the submerged one also suffered damage, with its bricked wall partially breaking and collapsing into the river.

According to reports, the water level of the Ganga continues to rise, leading to worsening conditions in Bhagalpur. As per the Central Water Commission, the Ganga is flowing 92 cm above the danger mark, and it is expected to increase by 6 cm by the evening, reaching 98 cm. The rising floodwaters have already submerged 40 rural roads in the Sultanganj block. Additionally, NH 80 near Bhawanathpur is flooded, disrupting the movement of people in the area.

The situation is rapidly deteriorating, with more areas at risk as the water level continues to rise.
