Fertile ground yields hidden treasure: Woman finds diamond during farm work in southern India
In a shocking incident, a woman doing farm work found a diamond from the field in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.
The incident took place in Kurnool district on July 23.
As per reports, a woman farmer found a precious diamond while she was doing farm work in G. Erragudi in Tuggali Mandal. The woman was flattening the ground after the harvest when she suddenly found the precious gem. When traders came to know about it, they started to compete to buy the diamond. One of the businessmen finally won the bid and bought the diamond for Rs.12 lakhs (USD 14,666.40). After the incident, the locals began searching for more diamonds in the field with the hope of getting rich.
Some parts of Rayalaseema are known for hiding precious diamonds in its soil and therefore every year the diamond hunt begins during monsoon season.
