Female lover attacks groom with acid after he declines proposal during marriage procession in northern India
A female lover attacked a groom of a marriage procession with acid after the latter declined her proposal in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.
This incident happened in Dumari village in Bansdih police station area of Ballia district on April 23.
Visuals showed the woman responsible for the crime being paraded away by the groom’s relatives after she was beaten up. Two women held the woman’s hands and a young man later grabbed hold of her hair before his hand was removed by another lady as the accused woman was paraded on the road. According to a report, the woman approached the groom, identified as Rakesh Bind, for marriage as he was getting prepared for his wedding to another lady. After Rakesh turned down her proposal, she took out a bottle of acid and threw it at his face. Not just the groom but three women who were standing close by also suffered injuries. All four were rushed to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The groom subsequently was discharged and he later went on to complete his marriage.
The woman meanwhile was thrashed by the groom’s relatives before the cops apprehended her. A case under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the woman. It also came to be known that the woman had an affair with the groom in question for two years.
