Female cops cross river with traditional bamboo bridge after repolling in northeastern India
In a display of sheer determination and resilience, female police officers in northeastern India’s Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng district crossed the formidable Kameng River using a traditional bamboo bridge.
The incident took place over Kameng River in East Kameng district on April 24.
Visuals showed a group of female police officers wading through the rushing waters of the Kameng River on a precarious bamboo bridge. Against the backdrop of the river’s relentless flow, the officers navigated the makeshift structure with unwavering determination, embodying the spirit of duty and dedication.
This daring crossing came in the aftermath of re-polling conducted across eight polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh, necessitated by reports of violence and damage to electronic voting machines (EVMs) during the previous round of elections. On April 19, simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state were marred by incidents of unrest, prompting authorities to take swift action to uphold the democratic process.
Despite the challenges posed by rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions, the repolling witnessed a commendable 74% voter turnout, underscoring the electorate’s steadfast commitment to exercising their democratic right. Security arrangements were bolstered to ensure the safety of voters and election personnel, with the participation of female police officers serving as a testament to the inclusive and resilient spirit of the electoral process.
