Fearless villager grabs leopard’s tail to aid in rescue
In a dramatic rescue operation, a man fearlessly grabbed a leopard’s tail to assist in its capture in Chikkakottigenahalli, a village in Tiptur taluk, Tumakuru district, Karnataka. The incident, which occurred on January 6, has left locals and wildlife enthusiasts in awe.
The visual shows a man grabbing the tail of a leopard to assist in saving it from an attack. After capturing the leopard, the officials place a net over it and secure the animal.
Speaking to Newslions, Anupama, the Deputy Conservator of Forests (Tumakuru), revealed that the leopard had been troubling the area for nearly five days. It was first sighted in the sprawling garden of Mallikarjunayya, a resident of Kottigenahalli. Concerned villagers promptly notified the Forest Department, which deployed personnel to capture the three-year-old wildcat. Despite setting up a cage, the elusive leopard managed to avoid capture. However, Anand, a resident of Rangapura, took a daring step during the operation. He grabbed the leopard’s tail, aiding forest officials in subduing the animal.
On January 9, the leopard was safely transferred to a rehabilitation center in Mysuru. Following its recovery, forest officials released the wildcat back into its natural habitat.
The rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of DCF Anupama with Assistant Conservator of Forests Bharath, Forest Officer Madhu, and Deputy Forest Officer Pradeep. Their coordinated efforts ensured the safety of both the animals and the villagers.
