Fast-moving scorpio runs over people at store opening in northern India

In a tragic incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a high-speed Scorpio SUV ran over four people sitting outside a store during its inauguration, resulting in one death and multiple injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

 

The incident took place in Gulawathi, a town within the Bulandshahr district on September 1.

Visuals showed outside a roadside shop, a group of people were seated on chairs when a speeding Scorpio SUV suddenly barreled into them. The vehicle was moving at a high speed, and the impact was forceful. Nearby, onlookers were startled and quickly stood up in shock as they realized what had happened. The scene was chaotic, with people scrambling to understand the unfolding tragedy and the SUV continuing its destructive path before eventually coming to a halt. The confusion and panic among the witnesses were palpable as they tried to help the victims and assess the damage.

 

An uncontrolled Scorpio SUV plowed into four individuals seated outside a shop during its inauguration event in Gulawathi, Bulandshahr. The accident, captured on a nearby CCTV camera, showed the vehicle barreling into the group of people. The impact resulted in the death of Hafiz Asif Qadri, 55, and left three others—Nizamuddin, Farooq, and Zeeshan—injured.

 

According to Station Officer Sunita Malik, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the crash. The deceased’s body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and the vehicle was seized by the police. The injured were taken to a local hospital, with two in serious condition being referred to a higher medical center. The police are actively searching for the fleeing driver and have registered a case based on the initial complaint.

 

In a separate incident in Bulandshahr, an out-of-control roadway bus crashed into a shop, causing significant damage. The shopkeeper, who had to flee to avoid injury, has accused the bus driver of being under the influence of alcohol and is seeking compensation from UPSRTC officials for the damage caused to his property.
