Farmer’s field yields riches overnight with discovery of two diamonds
A farmer discovered two diamonds in his fields changing his fortunes overnight.
The incident took place in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh, central India on December 27.
Visuals show the diamonds displayed on a tray at the diamond office. The farmer was later seen holding the two sparkling diamonds in the presence of government officials.
According to reports, officials claimed that both diamonds found by the farmer, Ramnaresh Dubey, are off-color, which affects their market value. One weighs 0.94 carats, while the other is 8.30 carats. Ramnaresh, a resident of Ramkhiriya village, located about 25 kilometers from the Panna district headquarters, had obtained permission from the Panna diamond office to mine diamonds on his farmland. For the past six months, he had been working on a shallow mine, and his luck paid off with this remarkable find.
The diamonds have now been handed over to the diamond office. Ramnaresh intends to use the proceeds to buy land and open a shop while continuing his diamond mining activities. Diamond officer Ravi Patel confirmed that the diamonds would be auctioned in the upcoming sale, with 11.50% royalty deducted before the remaining amount is given to the farmer.
