Farmers climb up trees in northern India as they continue to raise demands in front central government
A group of farmers from south India’s Tamil Nadu continued their protest as they raised demands in front of the central government, in northern India’s Delhi. The farmers who had arrived in Jantar Mantar, climbed up a tree to protest as they put forward their demands.
The incident took place on April 24.
Visuals showed one of the female protestors sitting on a branch of a tree and she was being persuaded by officials to come down. Later on, other trees were shown where several other farmers had climbed up. These farmers carried their flags along with them on these trees and most of those who remained below continued their protest.
According to a report, the demonstration by the farmers started on April 23 and continued for the second straight day on April 24. Carrying the skulls and bones of the farmers who died by suicide, the protestors demanded that the government provide them with a profitable price for their crops and also a pension or Rs 5000 (USD 60.04).
