Farmer stumbles upon old coins while digging his field in central India
A farmer stumbled upon a pitcher full of old coins from the British rule while digging his field in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.
This happened in Lokipar village of Narsinghpur district of the state on September 5.
Visuals showed the coins which were retrieved from the farmer’s field. Shailendra Dubey, the farmer has a temple in his field and was digging a tin shed nearby when while digging, he came across this pot of coins.
Upon taking it out, Dubey found out that the pitcher was full of silver coins from the British era, dated to around 1904 and had impressions of Queen Victoria with Rs 1 written. As per a report, the police were informed about this and they rushed to the spot to confiscate the property. The archaeology team also reached the spot on September 6 and have been investigating to see if there are more such coins available in the area. News of this discovery reached far and wide and people came from different areas to take a look at these old coins.
