Elephants’ safe passage ensured by Assam’s forest department, averted tragedy
In a commendable display of vigilance in northeastern India’s Assam, the state forest department successfully ensured the safe passage of elephants across railway tracks, preventing a potential disaster.
The incident occurred on November 26 when a herd of elephants was migrating from Lumding Reserve Forest to West Karbi Anglong.
Visuals captured the majestic elephants crossing the railway tracks in broad daylight, moving safely from one forest to another in a well-coordinated group.
According to reports, Assam’s forest staff from the Lanka Range, led by Range Officer Manik Ch. Boruah, took swift action to guide the elephants across the tracks, ensuring their safety while maintaining the safety of the trains. Their prompt response highlighted the department’s unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation and disaster prevention in the region.
