In a series of incidents in villages of southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, two elephants have caused significant damage to local farms.
The incident took place in Kuppam Mandal, located in the Chittoor District on May 31.
Visuals showed the footprints of the elephants in the crop fields. The elephants trampled and destroyed various crops, impacting the livelihoods of many farmers in the area.
In Vasanadu village, a farmer named Santarama suffered severe losses as his tomato garden was completely trampled. Additionally, mango plantations in several nearby villages were also devastated. The destruction has left farmers grappling with the aftermath and the economic impact of the losses.
Local wildlife department officials are actively working to divert the elephants away from the populated and agricultural areas to prevent further damage. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of both the villagers and the wildlife involved.
