Elephant with calf harassed by locals in eastern India: forced into water with flashlights, water drenching

In a distressing incident in eastern India’s West Bengal, a mother elephant and her calf were harassed by a group of locals.

 

 

 

The incident took place in Goaltor of Paschim Medinipur district on August 28.

 

 

 

Visuals showed elephants were subjected to continuous trauma as people flashed torchlights directly at them, forcing the frightened animals to retreat into nearby waters. The situation escalated when some individuals began throwing water at the already distressed elephants, intensifying their panic.
