Elephant rampages through resort, causing damage as tourists flee in fear
An elephant broke into a resort and damaged property after trying to attack the guests, causing panic in the early hours of the day.
This incident occurred at a private resort in Chalsa town of Jalpaiguri district, in northern India’s West Bengal on January 29.
Visuals show the guests approaching the resort gate, and preparing to leave. They rush toward the building after spotting the elephant charging at them. The jumbo storms through the gate but suddenly steps back and enters a nearby field. It destroys the property of the resort before wandering off.
According to sources, the elephant later entered a nearby forest adjacent to the locality after forest officials attempted to drive it away. Although it damaged resort property, no injuries were reported.
