In a unique sight amidst the ongoing heavy rainfall in northeastern India’s Assam, an elephant was spotted bathing and swimming in the floodwater at the Army Cantt. area. The unusual scene highlights the extent of the flooding affecting the region.

 

The incident took place in Narengi Cantt. of Satgaon in Kamrup district on August 8. 

Visuals showed a road was heavily waterlogged, with water levels rising significantly. Amidst the floodwaters, an elephant was seen roaming, struggling through the deep, murky water. The severe flooding caused major difficulties for vehicles and pedestrians trying to navigate the inundated area.

 

In a dramatic turn of events, Guwahati has been inundated by significant water flow from Meghalaya, resulting in widespread flooding across several prominent areas. The surge has affected Khanapara, VIP Road, and Six Mile, leading to extensive waterlogging and disruption of daily life. 

 

The situation remains critical as the water levels continue to rise. Authorities are urging residents to stay alert and follow safety advisories. Relief operations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
