Electrician hangs upside down after slip while working on electric pole in northern India, rescued by colleagues

An electrician working on an electric pole near the Kareli Barrier in Prayagraj narrowly escaped a fatal accident when he slipped and got entangled in wires, hanging upside down. Fortunately, his colleagues acted quickly and managed to save him without any serious injuries.

The incident took place near the Kareli Barrier in Prayagraj district and the video went viral on September 10.

Visuals showed an electrician climbing a ladder to tie wires on an electric pole when his foot slipped, and he became entangled in the cables, hanging upside down.

Preparations for the Mahakumbh Mela, set to be held in Prayagraj in January 2025, are in full swing, leading to extensive work on the city’s electrical infrastructure. As part of these preparations, electrical workers have been tasked with replacing old wires and cables throughout the city.

Fortunately, his colleagues were quick to respond. They managed to carefully maneuver and untangle the man from the wires, bringing him down safely. No severe injuries were reported, and the quick-thinking actions of his teammates prevented what could have been a tragic accident.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety protocols in place for workers involved in the ongoing infrastructural work. With the Mahakumbh Mela approaching, authorities are being urged to ensure proper safety measures are implemented to prevent such occurrences in the future.
