In a tragic turn of events, 80-year-old Venkatesham from southern India’s Telangana took his own life by hanging himself from a palm tree. The incident took a further turn for the worse when a rescuer attempting to retrieve the deceased was injured as the body fell on him.

 

The incident took place at the village of Mukundapuram in Suryapet District on August 2.

Visuals showed in the village, a lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree. As a rescuer climbed the tree to retrieve the body, it unexpectedly fell on him. Both the rescuer and the body fell to the ground, resulting in severe injuries to the rescuer. The scene attracted a large crowd of villagers who gathered around, witnessing the tragic and chaotic incident unfold.

 

The local community was alerted to the situation, and a rescue operation was promptly initiated. During the operation, a person climbing the palm tree to recover the body was struck by Venkatesham as he fell, leading to significant injuries.

 

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the elderly man’s death and the subsequent accident. This tragic event underscores the urgent need for mental health support in rural communities and highlights the risks faced by those who selflessly assist in emergency situations.
