Eight-year-old elephant rescued after falling into well in eastern India
An eight-year-old elephant, which had fallen into a well in eastern India’s Jharkhand, was rescued.
This happened in Serengatu village under Gola block in Ramgarh district of the state on August 26.
Visuals showed the elephant trapped inside the well and a huge crowd gathered at the spot. The locals spotted the animal and reportedly informed the forest department who then came to save the animal. They arrived at the spot with earth mover machines and dug out a ramp which then enabled the pachyderm to move out. But a major issue was with the crowd. Visuals showed the elephant, covered in mud, coming out of the well and walking towards the bushes.
The crowd which had gathered at the spot, started to follow and having spotted the people, the elephant started to panic and get agitated. It was also learnt that a few people also got trampled in the commotion which was created.
However, the elephant was safely rescued and reunited with its herd in the afternoon.
