Early morning leopard sighting rattles residents in western India, Forest Department on alert
In an early morning incident in western India’s Maharashtra, a leopard spotted within residential premises sparked alarm among residents.
The incident took place in the Bhadale Wasti area of Wagholi in Pune district on October 25.
Visuals showed the leopard wandering through the area, pacing around the complex before fleeing toward nearby farmland, leaving paw prints in its wake. Security guards recorded the animal’s movements on their mobile cameras, further unsettling the densely populated neighborhood.
According to reports, the Forest Department arrived shortly after being alerted to the incident. Officials located tracks throughout the area and assured concerned residents of safety measures. Dnyaneshwar Shivale of the Pune Forest Department confirmed that additional cameras would be installed to track the leopard’s movements, with plans to set up a cage trap pending approval. Meanwhile, residents are advised to remain cautious.
