Driver’s reckless act: drags traffic police officers on car bonnet for 100 meters in northern India
A shocking incident in northern India’s Delhi has raised serious safety concerns after a driver dragged two traffic police officers on his car’s bonnet for over 100 meters, eventually throwing them off before fleeing.
The incident took place at the Ber Sarai Red Light Crossing in Vasant Vihar located in South-West Delhi near the neighborhood of Vasant Kunj on November 2.
Visuals showed two traffic officers, ASI Pramod Singh and HC Shailesh Chauhan, tried to stop the vehicle as it was making a U-turn. However, the driver refused to comply and sped forward with the officers hanging on the bonnet.
According to reports, the driver continued to drive recklessly for approximately 100 meters before applying the brakes abruptly, causing one officer to fall off. The driver then maneuvered the car to make a turn and hit the brakes again, throwing the second officer onto the road before fleeing the scene. Onlookers attempted to intervene, but the driver managed to escape, reportedly at high speed.
Following the incident, an FIR has been lodged against the driver under multiple sections, including attempted murder and obstruction of official duty. According to a statement by ASI Pramod Singh, the driver deliberately obstructed their duty and endangered their lives by dragging them on the moving vehicle. The car, bearing the registration number DL 9 CBC 7528, is registered to Jai Bhagwan, a resident of Nangal Dewat, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Police are actively searching for the accused.
While ASI Pramod Singh and HC Shailesh Chauhan sustained minor injuries, the incident has raised significant concerns over police safety in the capital. Many people on social media have expressed worries, questioning the safety of ordinary citizens if even law enforcement officers face such dangers.
