Driver flees prematurely with nozzle attached in southern India, dragged pump along

The incident took place in Kalpetta, Wayanad district on June 19.
Visuals showed a petrol pump employee filling a car’s tank when the driver began driving off prematurely. The employee chased the car to stop it, while another worker quickly switched off the pump, preventing a major fuel spill and potential fire.
According to reports, the incident caused a sudden and forceful release of petrol, creating a highly flammable environment. Quick action by the pump staff and local emergency services prevented the situation from escalating into a fire or explosion. No injuries were reported, and the pump has been temporarily closed for safety inspections and repairs. The incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance and safety measures at fuel stations.
