Dramatic protest erupts as protesters breach barricades and chanting against police opposition
Farmers broke through the police barricades, climbed over them, raised flags, and chanted slogans during the protest.
The incident occurred at Dalit Sthal in Noida City, Uttar Pradesh, on December 2.
Visual shows the protesters advancing by breaking through barricades, raising flags, and chanting slogans in front of the police. Both men and women were leading the protest.
According to reports, farmers affiliated with the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) attempting to march to Delhi to present their demands.
The protest caused severe traffic disruptions, with long delays reported at major entry points into Delhi, including the DND Flyway, Delhi Gate, and Kalindi Kunj, as commuters were stuck for hours.
The farmers are pushing for a series of demands, including 10% land plot allocations, a 64.7% increase in compensation under the old acquisition law, and compensation at four times the market rate. They are also calling for 20% of plots on land acquired after January 1, 2014, as well as employment and rehabilitation benefits for the children of landless farmers. Additionally, they seek government action on issues raised by the High Power Committee and proper settlement of populated areas.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Bhagirath Choudhary, criticized the protests, claiming that some individuals are misleading the farmers for political gain. He emphasized that the government is willing to engage in discussions with the farmers, provided their demands are not politically motivated.
Meanwhile, other farmer groups, including Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), have announced plans for foot marches toward Delhi starting December 6.
