Dramatic encounter! Leopard locks eyes with bull at cattle farm
A leopard and a bull were caught having an intense face off at a cattle farm, sparking both awe and concern amongst the viewers.
The incident took place in Pune district of Maharashtra in western India and the video went viral on December 1.
Visuals show the bull tethered to a stake, staring down the leopard, which stands just 1–2 metres away. The animals appear locked in a tense face-off, neither attacking the other, as a fence separates the leopard from entering the bull’s space.
According to reports, the video has spread rapidly, but forest authorities are yet to comment on the matter. Leopard sightings in the region have risen sharply, with the Forest Department working to prevent potential conflicts.
“Awareness programmes are being conducted in Sinhagad and nearby areas to advise residents against tying cattle outside and discourage open defecation. Sitting outdoors puts individuals at eye level with leopards, increasing the risk of an attack. Standing humans appear larger and are perceived as threats, deterring leopards from attacking,” explained Manoj Borbole, Range Forest Officer, Bhamburda (Pune Division Headquarters).
The Forest Department continues its efforts to promote safety and minimise human-wildlife conflicts in the region.
