Dolphin washes up on beach in southern India, rescued and released
A dolphin was rescued and released into the waters after it had washed up on the RRO beach in southern India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
This incident happened on April 9.
Visuals showed the dolphin being released into the sea by the forest department officials. The officials dragged the mammal by its tail and released it into the water but it wasn’t as a process as it looked. The dolphin remained stationary on one point in the beach and it could be released successfully after several attempts. The dolphin, it was learnt, had washed up on the beach and was spotted by people who were busy cleaning the area.
They promptly informed the forest department officials who subsequently arrived at the spot to rescue the creature. The dolphin was dragged and released into the water but it didn’t go as expected. The water from the waves washed over its body but it didn’t move. After this happened a couple of times, the dolphin was released successfully. The officials were also spotted going deep into the water to check if the dolphin’s release was a successful procedure.
