Doctors left baffled after CT scan reveals pair of scissors in woman’s lower abdomen

A 44-year-old woman who endured constant stomach pain for two years after surgery discovered a pair of scissors left inside her lower abdomen following a CT scan.

The scan took place in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, central India on November 29.
Visuals show the CT scan revealing the scissors in her lower abdomen. In another set of visuals, the woman is seen being assisted by a family member while sitting on the stretcher in the hospital ward. In yet another set of visuals, the doctor can be seen describing the incident and explaining the situation, while a family member of the patient is also shown narrating the full details of the situation.

According to reports, the woman who underwent surgery at Kamla Raja Hospital in Gwalior two years ago has been suffering from constant stomach pain since then. When medications failed to provide relief, doctors recommended a CT scan, which revealed a pair of scissors in her stomach. It is believed that the scissors were accidentally left inside her during the surgery, and the wound was stitched up without noticing.

Kamla Bai, a resident of Saundha Gohad, had the operation on February 20, 2022, at the well-known Kamla Raja Hospital. Since then, she has been experiencing severe stomach pain. Despite seeing multiple doctors and undergoing various tests, she continued to suffer. The CT scan ultimately uncovered the scissors.

The family is demanding strict action against the doctors involved, blaming their negligence for Kamla Bai’s ongoing pain. Scan technician Satish Sharma confirmed that a metal object was found, which turned out to be the scissors. District hospital officials have stated they will prepare a full report and forward it to higher authorities.
