A doctor saved the life of an elderly man who had a heart attack while sitting in a hospital in western India’s Maharashtra.
The incident took place in Kolhapur district on September 3.
Visuals showed two men sitting in front of the doctor identified as Dr. Arjun Adnaik, a cardiologist. Suddenly the elderly man suffered a heart attack and the doctor rushed towards him. He started thumping the patient’s chest and the latter recovered after a few seconds.
The patient’s life was saved due to the timely intervention by the doctor.
Speaking to Newslions, Dr. Adnaik said, “I had inserted a pacemaker into this patient 12 years ago. He was not feeling well for the past few days and had visited the clinic. Unfortunately, his pacemaker got discharged when he was sitting here and he tapped a few times on the table, seeking help, being unable to talk. That’s when I reacted and helped him. This is a new procedure which we refer to as ‘Thump Stroke’.”
