Diwali fireworks smoke leads to head-on collision of two-wheelers in western India
A Diwali celebration turned tragic in western India’s Maharashtra, where smoke from firecrackers led to a head-on collision between two two-wheelers, leaving four young men injured, one critically.
The incident took place at Uruli Kanchan Gram Panchayat, located in Pune district on November 2.
Visuals showed smoke from firecrackers spread across the streets, impairing visibility and leading to a severe collision between two two-wheelers. Due to the impact, both vehicles were extensively damaged, with the riders sustaining serious injuries.
According to reports, the accident involved Chakradhar Santosh Kanchan, Kshitij Rahul Jadhav (18), Siddhant Navnath Satav (20), and Prateek Santosh Sathe (20), who suffered head injuries and were admitted to different hospitals for treatment. One of the victims is reported to be critically injured.
This incident has raised public concern, especially as the terrifying moment was captured in a video by a bystander. The recording, showing dense smoke obstructing visibility on the road, has sparked discussions about the safety risks posed by setting off firecrackers on public roads. Following the accident, vehicle owners in the area have expressed fear and unease, urging authorities to establish guidelines for safer festivities.
