Dilapidated building collapses amidst torrential rain in northern India, locals rescue the stranded
In a tragic incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, a two-story dilapidated building collapsed due to heavy rainfall, leaving several individuals stranded under the debris.
The incident took place in the Kashmiri Bazaar area of Agra city on September 12.
Visuals showed concerned locals swiftly gathering around the collapsed structure, working relentlessly in challenging conditions to rescue those trapped beneath the scattered debris, displaying remarkable determination and unity during the chaotic aftermath of the building collapse.
According to reports, the building, estimated to be around 100 years old, had been vacant for many years, deteriorating due to a lack of maintenance. Continuous rainfall over two days led to the collapse, which resulted in chaos as nearby residents rushed out of their homes upon hearing the screams and calls for help. Among those buried were three individuals on a bike and a cleaner near the building at the time of the incident.
Rescue operations continued with great effort, and the victims were eventually pulled out from under the rubble. Police authorities arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information. All the rescued individuals were in critical condition and were immediately taken to SN Medical College for treatment.
