Devotees mistakenly drink AC water as Holy drink at temple in northern India

In a bizarre incident at a temple in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh devotees unknowingly drank air conditioning water, believing it to be the sacred ‘Charanamrit’ or holy water from Lord Krishna’s feet. This incident has sparked discussions about superstition and the need for better communication from temple management.

The incident took place at the Banke Bihari Mandir located in Vrindavan, Mathura district and the video went viral on November 3.

Visuals showed a long queue of devotees eagerly waiting to collect the water trickling down from an elephant sculpture in the temple, which they assumed to be holy. Many cupped their hands or used cups to gather what they believed was divine water. However, a closer inspection revealed that the water was actually flowing from air conditioning tubes cleverly integrated into the temple’s architecture.

Despite the revelation, many devotees remained firm in their beliefs. A bystander captured footage of priests clarifying that the liquid was not the holy ‘Charanamrit’ from Thakur-ji’s feet, but rather AC water. Nonetheless, the message seemed to fall on deaf ears, as devotees continued to indulge in the mistaken ritual, splashing themselves with the water and drinking it without hesitation.

This incident highlights the complex relationship between faith and reality, raising questions about the influence of superstition in religious practices. As the video gained traction on social media, influencers and netizens alike urged for clearer communication from temple authorities to prevent such misunderstandings in the future.
