Daring rope rescue: Firefighters save woman trapped in kitchen for hours
The firefighters courageously rescued a woman from the 9th floor as she was trapped in her kitchen for several hours, the kitchen and front doors were accidentally locked from the inside.
The incident took place at Vijaya Glimpses, Jawahar Nagar Avenue, Elamkulam district, Kerala on November 4.
Visuals show a firefighter descending from the terrace to the 9th floor using a rope, landing smoothly on the balcony. He then entered the house, while the woman’s family and the rescue team waited outside the door. The firefighter opened the door from the inside, allowing the team to enter and unlock the kitchen door.
According to reports, the family discovered the situation when the children returned from school at 4:00 PM, and they immediately contacted authorities.
Speaking to Newslions, Fire and Rescue Officer as well as Rope rescue team member of Gandhinagar Fire And Rescue Station Kevin Antony stated that we received the call at 4:30 PM. Assistant Station Officer P. Suresh Kumar led the rescue team. Initially planning to break down the kitchen door, the team realized both doors were locked and needed to be breached. The flat owner informed them that the balcony door was open, but the family in the 9th-floor apartment was away. The team decided to use a vertical rope rescue operation from the terrace. By 5:30 PM, the woman was safely rescued. The operation was a success, thanks to the quick thinking and expertise of the Gandhinagar Fire and Rescue team.
