Customs seize gold worth $110,133 in southern India
In a shocking incident, custom officials seize gold worth Rs.92 lakhs (USD 110,133.38) in southern India’s Tamil Nadu.
The incident took place at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on May 13.
Visuals showed a man vigorously hammering an object, which concealed gold within its confines.
Based on intelligence received, officials from the AIU at Trichy airport apprehended a passenger who had arrived from Sharjah aboard Air India Express flight IX 614 on May 13, 2024, and discovered 1.299 kg of gold valued at Rs.92 lakhs (USD 110,133.38).
