Customs officials seize gold hidden in cardboard sheet at airport in western India
Officials of the customs department seized gold which was concealed in a cardboard sheet of a toy boxes, body cavity and clothes worn by an Indian man who was travelling from Oman’s Muscat to western India’s Maharashtra.
This incident happened at the Mumbai airport on February 13-14.
Visuals showed one of these officials ripping open a cardboard sheet to show the gold which was hidden inside of it. The gold was pasted between these two sheets and the official removed the top layer to find this precious metal. According to a report, the gold which was recovered from the man weighed 2.95 kgs (6.504 lbs) and it was valued at Rs 1.62 crore ( USD 195,109.07). Not just this but two iPhones were also recovered from him.
