Crocodile spotted roaming at dam bridge in central India

A crocodile was seen wandering on the Dam bridge in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, prompting immediate action from local authorities. The sighting, captured on video by passersby, occurred during the flood season, leading to concerns about the reptile’s presence in such a densely populated region.

The incident took place at Banjara Dam in Sheopur district and the video went viral on August 13.

Visuals showed a crocodile was observed roaming the Banjara Dam bridge, situated in a bustling urban area. The incident was documented by several passersby who managed to capture the reptile on video. This unusual sighting took place as vehicles continuously passed over the bridge, highlighting the crocodile’s unexpected presence in a heavily trafficked area.

The crocodile’s appearance in the urban setting is attributed to the ongoing flood season, which has led to altered water levels and forced wildlife into less familiar areas. Fortunately, the forest department was alerted to the situation. Although they arrived at the scene, the crocodile had already retreated to the river by the time they arrived.

Authorities have assured the public that there is no immediate danger, but the incident underscores the importance of remaining vigilant during the flood season. The forest department continues to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of residents and the proper management of wildlife in the area.
