Crisis unfolds in central India after horrendous blaze turns hospital into inferno
In a harrowing incident in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, a fierce fire broke out at the medicine warehouse within the hospital complex, causing panic among patients and staff.
The incident took place in the Bhagyoday Hospital complex of Sagar district on September 23.
Visuals showed the chaotic scene as the medical store was engulfed in fierce flames, creating a menacing display of fire that posed a significant danger to those in the vicinity. Patients and bystanders were seen frantically running around the campus, desperately trying to find safety for themselves and their families. The fire blazed uncontrollably, and police officers were on-site, appearing concerned while managing the crowd and assessing the situation. Fire brigade tanks were deployed, battling the flames, but the fire remained difficult to control. Thick, black smoke billowed into the sky, creating dense clouds that were visible from afar. The hospital corridors and hallways were shrouded in smoke, causing a fog-like effect throughout the building. Locals looked distressed and shocked, searching for safe spots to secure themselves and assist others.
According to reports, the fire erupted around 6 PM and was brought under control by approximately 8:30 PM after two and a half hours of relentless effort. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. Assistant Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Uikey stated, “The cause of the fire is still unknown. The blaze is partially under control, and efforts are underway to extinguish it completely.
