A massive protest unfolded in northeastern India’s Manipur after three women and three children were allegedly abducted by Kuki-Hmar terrorists.
The protests took place across schools and colleges in Imphal Valley on November 14.
Visuals showed thousands of students holding candles and flags late into the evening, chanting slogans and praying for the safe release of the victims. Human chains were formed by school and college students outside their institutions on Children’s Day, expressing solidarity and demanding swift action.
According to reports, school and college students across Imphal Valley marked Children’s Day by forming human chains outside their educational institutions, protesting the alleged abduction of three women and three children by militants in Jiribam district on Monday.
Police stated on Tuesday that the six individuals, internally displaced people residing in a relief camp at Jakuradhor village, went missing after a firing incident that left 10 “armed militants” dead.
The protest was spearheaded by the COCOMI Students’ Front, representing the Meitei community. Authorities confirmed that operations are underway to locate and rescue the missing individuals.
