Couple plunges into well after car veers off road in southern India, fire brigade rescues them
In a dramatic incident in southern India’s Kerala, a couple was rescued after their car lost control and plunged into a well.
The incident took place in Pattimattom village of Ernakulam district on October 11.
Visuals showed a woman climbing out of the well using a ladder, followed by a man doing the same. The fire brigade was seen tying a rope around the car, which had fallen upside down, before lifting it out of the well. The couple, who were natives of Kottarakkara, miraculously escaped with their lives, thanks to the swift action of the fire department.
Speaking to Newslions, Fireman Mr. Sateesh from the Pattimattom Fire Station said the rescue was initiated after a distress call at around 9:00 p.m. The operation was led by Station Officer N.H. Assainar. He mentioned that the accident occurred due to difficulty in identifying the road during heavy rainfall. Anil and his wife, Vismaya, were on their way to Aluva when their car skidded and fell into the well. Despite water entering the vehicle, Anil unfastened his seatbelt, moved to the back seat, and assisted his wife out of the car.
The fire brigade’s timely intervention prevented further tragedy, and the couple was safely brought out.
