A cobra discovered hiding behind a religious image in a residence in central India’s Madhya Pradesh caused significant alarm when a female sub-inspector encountered it during her routine prayers.

The incident took place at FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) Quarter near the Police Line in Sagar district on August 6.

Visuals showed in a home, a snake had hidden behind a religious image in the prayer room. A snake expert, present at the scene, expertly and carefully extracted the snake from its hiding spot. After the rescue, the expert identified the snake, explaining its type, its venomous nature, and how such snakes often enter homes during the rainy season. The expert advised residents to stay vigilant and take precautions during this time.

In Sagar, a startling incident occurred when a cobra was found inside a house at the FSL Quarter near the Police Line. The snake had taken refuge behind a picture of a deity in the home’s prayer room. The alarm was raised when a female sub-inspector, who had come to perform her daily prayers, spotted the snake and fled in terror, alerting nearby residents.

Local snake catcher Akil Baba was promptly informed and arrived at the scene to conduct a rescue operation. After some effort, he was able to locate the snake behind the religious image and safely capture it. The cobra, measuring approximately 3 feet in length, was noted to be highly venomous.

Akil Baba explained that the recent rains had caused snakes to leave their burrows and seek shelter in residential areas. He urged residents to maintain cleanliness around their homes and exercise caution, particularly at night, to prevent encounters with such dangerous wildlife. The captured cobra will be released safely into the forest.
