Cobra bite claims life of snake rescuer in western India
A tragic incident occurred in western India’s Maharashtra, when a snake rescuer succumbed to a venomous cobra bite during a rescue operation.
The incident took place at Gondia on August 5.
Visuals showed after catching the snake found in the house, the snake expert was placing it into a sack when the snake bit his hand, causing him intense pain. The people present were frightened and distressed by the incident.
According to reports a snake rescuer, known as Sunil, lost his life after being bitten by a venomous cobra while attempting to rescue the snake from a residential house. The incident took place around 10 PM on Monday.
According to reports, Sunil was called to rescue a king cobra that had entered a house. While attempting to secure the snake using a stick, Sunil managed to grab the cobra by its head and hang it straight. Unfortunately, during this process, the cobra bit him on the hand.
The entire rescue operation was being recorded on video, capturing the moment the cobra attacked. Despite the immediate bite, Sunil did not receive timely medical attention, which led to his death. The monsoon season often leads to an increase in snake encounters as their burrows get flooded, forcing them to seek refuge in homes and other dry areas.
This tragic incident underscores the dangers associated with snake rescues and the critical importance of immediate medical intervention following a snake bite. Experts advise against relying on traditional remedies and emphasize the need for urgent medical care to prevent fatalities.
