Close shave for passengers after bus catches fire in southern India

A total of 17 passengers had a narrow escape after a bus that they were travelling in, caught fire in southern India’s Telangana.

This incident took place when the bus was headed towards Raipur via Paradise and Suchitra in Petbasheerabad police station limits, Hyderabad on April 15.

Visuals showed the bus on fire on one side of the road. The flames engulfed the vehicle and the fire came out from the inside of the bus and rose to some extent. Thick black smoke emanated from the burning bus and a group of people had gathered at the spot. Parts of the vehicle fell off as the flames charred it.

As per a report, K Vijaya Vardhan, an inspector at Petbasheerabad police station stated that it was the driver of the bus who sensed the fire early and evacuated the passengers in time, which prevented any casualty or injury in this incident. The luggages of the passengers was damaged in the fire. The flames are said to have broken out due to a short circuit and fire engines had to rush to the spot to put out the blaze.
