Chilling moment leopard attacks pet dog in western India
Visuals have emerged of a leopard attacking a pet dog in western India’s Maharashtra.
The incident took place in a village in the Nashik district on June 5.
Visuals, captured on CCTV camera, showed the dog sitting on a low boundary wall of a house when suddenly it saw a leopard approaching. The pet dog ran for its life and tried to outsmart the leopard but eventually failed.
After a brief tussle, the leopard left with the dog in its jaws.
According to reports, Pankaj Garg, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Nashik said, “We appeal to the people of Mungsare village to remain indoors at night as leopard activity has increased in this area. People must remain alert.”
Instances of leopards entering residential areas is not uncommon in Nashik. In January this year, a leopard was rescued from a residential area of Nashik city in an operation that lasted eight hours. One person was attacked in the incident.
