The incident took place at the Dream Bazaar Mall located in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi on August 31.

Visuals showed the chaotic scenes as hundreds of people forcefully entered the mall, ignoring the desperate attempts by staff to control the crowd. Karachi’s much-anticipated Dream Bazaar Mall, located in the Gulistan-e-Johar area, experienced a disastrous opening day after a massive crowd stormed into the newly opened premises, leading to looting and vandalism. The mall, constructed by a Pakistani businessman residing abroad, had been widely publicized on social media, promising special discounts to attract customers. However, shortly after the mall opened its doors at 3:00 pm, the situation spiraled out of control.

Eyewitnesses reported a glaring absence of law enforcement, leaving the mall staff helpless in managing the chaos. Many videos also showed people recording themselves as they engaged in looting, displaying pride in their actions. The aftermath revealed a scene of devastation, with extensive property damage and merchandise theft.

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many users expressing shock and disappointment over the lack of civic responsibility shown by the mob. People questioned how a crowd could resort to such lawless behavior, especially on what was supposed to be a celebratory occasion for the new mall’s opening.
