Chain snatching attempt in southern India leaves woman dragged several meters

by Ekta ChaubeyIn a shocking incident in southern India’s Tamil Nadu, a woman was violently dragged for several meters during a chain-snatching attempt.
The incident took place in the Mattuthavani area of Madurai district on October 20.
Visuals showed the couple on their bike, with the husband stopping the vehicle on the roadside. Two men on a Yamaha R15 motorbike approached from behind, targeting the woman as they attempted to snatch the chain around her neck.
According to reports, as Dwaraknath parked the vehicle, Manjula was dismounting when the assailants made their move. The man sitting pillion reached for her chain, but it did not break immediately, causing Manjula to fall and be dragged several meters by the speeding motorcycle.
Eventually, the chain broke, with one part in the culprits’ hands and the other remaining with Manjula.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
