Cattle rescued from Sone River in central India after week-long ordeal

In a coordinated rescue operation led by the Atal Kamdhenu Gausewa Sansthan in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, all cattle trapped for a week between two streams of the Sone River were successfully saved with support from local authorities and notable figures.

The incident took place in the Sone River in Sihawal area of Sidhi District on September 26.

Visuals showed a rescue team first descending to where the cows were trapped in the middle of the river. They carefully inspected the animals to ensure their safety and well-being. After checking their condition, the team securely tied ropes around the cows. The team positioned above then began pulling the cows upwards using the ropes, working together to lift them safely out of the area. Once the cows were successfully pulled up, the remaining members of the lower team also ascended, completing the rescue operation.

A week-long rescue mission came to a successful conclusion when all cattle stranded between two streams of the river were safely rescued. The initiative, led by Gaurav Ralhi Mishra, founder of the Atal Kamdhenu Gausewa Sansthan, was made possible through the combined efforts of the organization’s local branch in Sidhi, the district administration, the SDRF, and the intervention of key officials like animal welfare advocate Mrs. Maneka Gandhi and Madhya Pradesh’s Animal Husbandry Minister, Mr. Lakhan Singh.

The rescue operation, which spanned from 1:14 PM to 6:56 PM, was prompted by growing concern over the condition of the trapped cattle. The Atal Kamdhenu Gausewa Sansthan played a pivotal role in securing the cooperation of authorities and mobilizing resources to ensure the animals’ safe release. This effort underscores the importance of collaborative action between non-governmental organizations and government bodies in addressing critical animal welfare issues.

The cattle were trapped due to rising water levels in the Sone River, leaving them stranded between two streams. The rescue operation was a challenging task due to the difficult terrain and weather conditions, but it was successfully executed, highlighting the dedication of all involved.
