Cattle rescued from river island by state disaster team in northern India

In northern India’s Uttarakhand, a dramatic rescue operation took place when three cattle (one cow and two bulls) were stranded on an island amidst the strong currents of the Bhagirathi River near Netala Siror.

The incident took place in Uttarkashi district on August 7.


Visuals showed  rescuers, battling strong currents, meticulously using ropes and harnesses to guide the stranded cattle across the Bhagirathi river. The team, displaying remarkable teamwork and precision, moved inch by inch, ensuring the cows’ safety.

Speaking to Newslions, Fire Station Uttarkashi Incharge Devendra Singh Negi mentioned upon receiving the distress call, the Uttarkashi Fire Service, led by Fire Officer Devendra Singh Negi, quickly responded. After a challenging rescue operation, the team successfully brought the cattle to safety. The local villagers praised the fire service for their swift and effective efforts.
