Update: Chemical-laden truck crash sparks catastrophic fuel pump blaze resulting in multiple injuries

A catastrophic blaze erupted at a fuel pump following a chemical-laden truck crash, leaving several injured. At least five people tragically lost their lives in the massive fire.

The incident took place on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Jaipur district, Rajasthan, northern India on December 20.

Visuals show the truck colliding with the fuel pump in the early hours, resulting in a massive cloud of dust, followed by fierce flames within seconds. Other footage shows the area engulfed in fire, with trucks fully consumed by flames and thick black smoke billowing into the air, creating a terrifying scene. Fire officials were seen rushing to the spot, working to control the intense situation. By sunrise, the area had been devastated by the fire, but the firefighters continued their efforts to bring it under control. Police were also present, overseeing the scene.
Speaking to Newslions, Devang Yadav, Fire Officer at Mansarovar Fire Station in Jaipur, explained that the incident occurred around 5:30 am on Ajmer Road when a CNG tanker parked near a petrol pump caught fire after a truck collided, causing a gas leak that ignited other vehicles. They received the emergency call at 5:40 am, prompting the dispatch of 20 fire engines to combat the blaze
 
The fire reportedly destroyed all vehicles within a half-kilometre radius of the fuel pump. Several people are feared dead, and 35 others have been injured, many in critical condition. The injured were transported to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital.
