A BMW traveling along National Highway 66 in southern India’s Karnataka was completely destroyed after a fire broke out inside the vehicle.

The incident took place near the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Surathkal of Mangalore city on September 5.

Visuals showed onlookers gather on the busy highway as thick black smoke billows from the burning car, now a charred wreck. Flames lick the sky as firefighters battle to put out the blaze, but the vehicle is already reduced to a skeletal frame. The road is lined with the onlookers, some taking pictures and videos. Police officers stand at a distance, surveying the scene, while traffic is diverted away from the gutted vehicle.

According to reports, the car was en route from Udupi to Mangaluru when the fire ignited close to the NITK campus. Fortunately, all passengers escaped unharmed.

Local residents, upon noticing the fire, quickly alerted the fire brigade. Firefighters arrived at the scene, but the vehicle had already been completely gutted by the flames. Police officers from Mangaluru Traffic (North Division) and the Surathkal Police were also present. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
