Calm winds bring serene morning fog with fresh air quality in southern India

Amidst the turbulent days of Cyclone Fengal, a moment of relief emerged as calm winds brought a serene blanket of fog, with no trace of smog and air quality remaining at a healthy 50.

The incident took place in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu in southern India on December 4.

Visuals show the early morning wrapped in a thick blanket of fog, enveloping the area in a tranquil haze. Visibility remained low, adding a serene charm to the day, which felt fresh and calm, accompanied by crisp, clean air to breathe.

According to reports, Cyclone Fengal brought heavy rainfall and flooding to 14 districts, including Chennai and Villupuram, with excess water release from the Sathanur Dam exacerbating the situation. Despite the challenges, the downpour increased Chennai’s water reserves, and as the storm subsided, residents awoke to a fresher, calmer winter morning, marked by low pollution and a good Air Quality Index.
