Bus plunges into gorge in northern India: 25 severely injured

Two people lost their lives and 25 others sustained injuries when a private mini bus skidded off the road and fell into a 200-feet-deep gorge in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place near Bhatyas in the hilly Doda district on July 13.

Visuals showed at the site where the bus plunged into the gorge, and a chaotic scene unfolded with a crowd gathered amidst the debris. Rescuers frantically searched for injured and trapped individuals. The atmosphere was tense and frantic, with the bus completely shattered from its fall, portraying a scene of severe devastation and urgency.

The tragic incident occurred near Bhatyas around 10:25 am as the bus was en route from Bhalessa to Thathri.

Rescuers discovered one woman deceased at the accident site, while another victim passed away later in hospital. Nine critically injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Government Medical College in Doda.

Harvinder Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Doda, confirmed the rescue efforts and the transfer of seriously injured patients to the hospital. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh expressed condolences to the families affected by the accident.
