Bus driver suffers heart attack while driving in southern India; conductor’s quick action saves passengers

In a tragic incident, a BMTC bus driver, Kiran Kumar, suffered a fatal heart attack while driving, leading the bus to veer out of control.
The incident took place at Nelamangala to Dasanapura route in Bengaluru on November 6.
Visuals showed the moment Kumar collapsed, leaving the steering wheel and causing the bus to proceed without control. Moments later, it collided with another BMTC bus ahead. Reacting swiftly, the bus conductor, Obalesh, took control of the steering and managed to bring the vehicle to a safe stop, preventing further danger to passengers and others on the road.
According to reports, after stopping the bus, Obalesh immediately transported Kumar to a nearby hospital, where doctors unfortunately confirmed he had already passed away.
BMTC officials verified that Kumar had been operating vehicle number KA 57 F-4007 on route 256 M/1, marking the trip as his last. Expressing condolences, BMTC issued a heartfelt statement mourning the loss of their employee, affirming that senior officials visited Kumar’s family and offered an ex-gratia payment to support the family’s funeral arrangements.
